International Conference «Chemical Education and Sustainable Development» was held October 11–13, 2000 at Dmitry Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia and at the Presidium of Russian Academy of Science (Moscow, Russia).

At the conference, a decision was made to establish the Institute of Chemistry and Problems of Sustainable Development.

Abstracts were published as the materials of the conference.
